Stepping out with a statement in support of powerful melodic rock, Dallas' newest indie label called What You Need Entertainment ®,LLC just signed its debut featured artist, pop/rock singer/songwriter BENTLI (www.myspace.com/bentlimusic). The label is the latest undertaking of ex-Clevelander, Dallas music attorney Vesna N. Rafaty who is rolling up her sleeves to work with select artists in various genres, including pop, rock, Latin, alternative, experimental, and spoken word.

Vesna,speaking about her vision for the label, states: "This label is at its core about spirited and creative collaboration in artist development with specially-selected, willing, and invested artists. I think that's what serious emerging artists need. While the digital medium has empowered independent artists in unprecedented ways, that empowerment needs a business-minded discipline to carry and sustain the artist beyond the initial success and toward the artist's self-made long-term goals. It's an artist development journey with uncertain outcomes, and that's what makes it very exciting. "

While the label initially will showcase home-grown talent, Vesna, a Yugoslav-American who nurtures a global perspective in her projects, will scout for talent ripe for the world stage in various U.S. cities and at industry events such as MIDEM in Cannes, France and MUSEXPO in Los Angeles.

Significantly, What You Need will also undertake initiatives to spread awareness of selected literary and poet avant-gardists. "Words are powerful. I want to celebrate their power, both with and without music, and via innovative delivery formats," says Vesna.
